Become a Champion for Young Readers Today!

Sometimes one book can change everything.

When five-year-old Grant joined the library’s Summer Reading Program, he was thrilled to pick out his very own book — Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson. The copy he selected happened to be in Spanish, but that didn’t stop him. Grant was determined to read it.

His mom searched the KCLS catalog and found an English read-along version. That’s when everything came together.

“That first day, he was up until 10 pm, reading in the car until there was no light left in the sky. He was so proud of himself. Coming out of preschool this past spring we don’t have some of the reading resources that kids might have in elementary school just yet and the summer reading program really helped meet my son where he is at on his reading journey.”

— Etta, Grant’s Mother

For Grant, one free book opened the door to confidence, curiosity, and joy. Every day, children like Grant discover that same spark through library programs made possible by donors like you.

This year, a generous supporter will match all gifts up to $25,000, doubling your impact for families who rely on the library to learn and grow.

Will you make your year-end gift today to help more kids like Grant discover the joy of reading?
