"The Message of the Doodle" is a book created to guide the implementation of social art programs across various settings like hospitals, prisons, and schools, extending even to informal environments. It addresses a gap in Spanish-language literature on art therapy, aiming to offer a local perspective on the connection between art and well-being while also highlighting the contributions of the Spanish-speaking community. The accompanying workshop encourages participants to explore how art can foster well-being and identify practical elements to enhance leadership and group exercises.

"El Mensaje del Garabato" es un libro creado para guiar la implementación de programas artísticos con enfoque social en diversos entornos como hospitales, cárceles y escuelas, e incluso en ambientes informales. Aborda una brecha en la literatura en español sobre arte-terapia, buscando ofrecer una perspectiva local sobre la conexión entre el arte y el bienestar, al mismo tiempo que visibiliza las contribuciones de la comunidad hispanohablante. El taller que lo acompaña anima a los participantes a explorar cómo el arte puede fomentar el bienestar e identificar elementos prácticos para mejorar iniciativas de liderazgo y/o en grupos.

About Andrée Salome

Andrée Salome is a Colombian Arts Therapist and author of “El Mensaje del Garabato.” She was the manager of the Creative Arts Transformation Tools program at the University of Los Andes and a resident of the Esalen Institute in California. She earned her Master's in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute and trained in psychedelic-assisted therapies at the California Institute of Integral Studies. She is a Somatic Experiencing practitioner, maintains a private art and wellness practice for adults and children, and enjoys doodling.

Her texts on art and therapy include: "Image Literacy Preparation during Psychedelic Psychotherapy" (2024); "Art Therapy and Museums in the Colombian Context" (2020); "Claiming the Polarity of Art Therapy" (2017); "The Art of Observation and Experience" (2015), "Art Therapy and its Contemplative Nature" (2013), etc. These have been published in specialized academic journals (Art Therapy, The Arts in Psychotherapy, etc.). She is the author of children's books on development and emotions: "Flow, Flow, Flow" (2018), "When the Anger Ogre Visits" (2015), "I Live in Two Houses" (2013), "I'm Going to School" (2015), "When We Get the Flu" (2024), "Meeting Baby" (2013), "Everyone Stops Using Diapers" (2013).

Fue la gestora del programa de Herramientas de Transformación por medio de las Artes Creativas de la Universidad de los Andes, y residente del Esalen Insitute en California. Obtuvo su Maestría en Arte Terapia y Desarrollo de la Creatividad de Pratt Institute, y se formó en terapias asistidas por psicodélicos en el California Institute of Integral Studies. Es practicante de Experiencia Somática, mantiene una practica privada de arte y bienestar para adultos y niños y le gusta garabatear.
