Ernst, Alexander Joseph "AJ"- 45 years of age, from Erma, NJ passed away too soon on the evening of December 1, 2023.

Alex was born and raised in Lower Township where he grew up with a love for fishing and animals. Alex obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island.

Alex rose to become the Assistant Director and Veterinarian at the Cape May County Zoo. Alex was very passionate about his career at the zoo. This could be seen in his excitement which was expressed in many media articles.

AJ was well known for his incredible sense of humor and being the king of sarcasm. He was truly the life of every party.

He is predeceased by his father Harry Ernst. He will be greatly remembered by all of those that knew him but especially by his loving wife of 10 years, Kira and their two darling girls Lydia and Natalie, his mother Barbara and brother John Ernst.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dember 9 at 11:30 AM at the Parish of St. John Neumann Church of St. Raymond 800 Bayshore Road Villas NJ. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Saturday morning from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11:30. Interment will be held privately on the grounds of Tabernacle Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Alex would like to see donations made to Cape May County Zoo for future generations to benefit and enjoy the wonders of the animal kingdom.
