Reimagine Fund 2022

Aloha kākou,

Mahalo for investing in the Reimagine Fund. During the Christian season of Lent, 40 days between March 2 and April 17, Faith Action is attempting to raise $8,760. This is roughly the amount it takes to incarcerate one person in Hawaiʻi for 40 days ($219 per day). 10% of this will be used in our advocacy to reform the cash bail system and 90% will be invested in organizations who support those coming out of incarceration in culturally grounded practices: First LAP and ʻEkolu Mea Nui. firstlap.org ekolumeanui.org

During Lent we will be making connections between Jesus who was killed by the ancient Roman empire and those who are criminalized and punished by the State today. It costs $79,935 to incarcerate an individual for a year. Follow us on social media or sign up to get our e-letters to hear video interviews with various community members to reimagine how we could use $79,935 to truly invest in building healthier and safer community.
