About the Event

Now entering its 27-year milestone, Seattle Somali Week is one of the region’s longest-running community festivals. From August 6 – 16, 2025 hundreds of families, youth and partners will gather at Highline High School (225 S 152nd St, Burien WA) to enjoy ten days of soccer, cultural arts and family activities.

Hosted by African Youth Sports Academy (AYSA), the tournament welcomes 16 teams—including eight traveling from out of state— and engages 140+ local players aged 6-18, half of whom come from immigrant or refugee households. Beyond thrilling matches, the week offers health-and-wellness workshops, college-readiness sessions, and daily family programming that foster teamwork, leadership and community cohesion.
