People’s Air Library is a volunteer-run, community-funded service to provide cleaner air and Covid-safe(r) spaces to the Los Angeles metro area.

As a group, we are driven by principles of disability justice, liberation, and mutual aid, and stand in opposition to capital, empire, white supremacy, and other structures of oppression. We envision our project as part of a broader ecosystem of local efforts to combat eugenicist logics that have become increasingly rampant under a government that has falsely declared an end to the Covid-19 pandemic and thus seeks to exclude the immunocompromised and chronically-ill from public life, or life altogether. The People’s Air Library, or PAL, will follow in the footsteps of other Clean Air Lending Libraries and related organizations in providing free air purifiers and other mitigating equipment for use at events, community gathering spaces, doctor’s appointments, and so on. As we are volunteer-run, however, we are currently raising the funds to purchase the following supplies:

Smart Air Blast Mini MKII air purifier, a robust and portable metal body air purifier with wheels that moves 810 cfm ($599)
Smart Air QT3 Portable air purifier, a battery powered personal air purifer for doctor's appointments ($60) (x2)
Supplies to build Corsi-Rosenthal boxes for longterm use by individuals ($100)
Nukit Torch, a set of battery powered portable Far-UVC lamps ($345)
Aranet C02 monitor ($149)

All funds will go directly towards these purchases, and we will continue to remain entirely transparent around both the status and use of these finances as well as our inventory.
