Greetings! We’re excited because this year marks the 25^th Anniversary of North High School’s STARFEST Marching Band Competition. This showcase of regional bands is hosted by the North Stars Band, Inc. (a parent led non-profit organization). The competition is an IHSMA (Iowa High School Music Association) registered competition consisting of a prelims performance by school size and followed by the top 10 high scoring bands competing in a finals contest. The broad lineup of competing bands is made up of schools from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota (including local favorites EHS, WHS, Bishop Heelan and NHS). This fun and music filled event provides the opportunity for marching bands to showcase their season’s field shows to families, friends and the Siouxland community.

STARFEST is our largest fundraiser of the year. It supports all our 90+ band students with diverse backgrounds. The funds help fund our band ensembles with the cost of music licenses, travel/competition fees, instrument repairs and purchasing, related resources, unique opportunities for learning and scholarships to summer music camps. Students involved in band learn valuable life skills such as leadership, teamwork, concentration, perseverance, focus and confidence.

Make sure to save the date for the 25^th Annual STARFEST on Saturday September 30^th at Elwood Olsen Stadium on the campus of Morningside University. Come and enjoy a fun day of music and watch as over 1,000+ marching band students showcase their talents and perform their remarkable shows.
