About the Foundation

The Eddie Mayerik Foundation is a non-profit organization that honors the life of Eddie Mayerik, forever 8, who bravely battled a congenital heart defect (CHD) and chronic lung disease. He was a superhero with a heart of gold, always ready to flash his two thumbs up with a huge smile.

Established in 2024 by Eddie’s family, the Eddie Mayerik Foundation envisions a world where every kiddo can thrive and families remain whole. The Foundation works to ensure Eddie’s light continues to shine bright by advancing CHD awareness and research, supporting the needs of heart families, and promoting Eddie’s passions. Through this work, we keep his memory alive and continue to spread his kindness in the world.

About Congenital Heart Defects

Every 15 minutes, a baby is born with a congenital heart defect.

Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the U.S., and yet CHD research is grossly underfunded relative to the prevalence of the disease. Moreover, kids with CHDs face a life-long risk of health problems and their families face significant financial, emotional, and mental impacts. There exists a critical need to raise funds and awareness for kids and families navigating CHDs and other chronic illnesses.

The Eddie Mayerik Foundation is a public charity (EIN 99-3583524) co-founded by Jen and Nick Mayerik. Thanks to the generous support of family and friends contributing pro bono services from legal, to accounting, to nonprofit management, the maximum amount of money raised from this fundraising campaign will go towards grants to support our mission in honor of Eddie.
