While some counties and townships pay for community TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) programs, East Orange does NOT. This crucial step in trying to stop cat and dog overpopulation is privately funded in East Orange. While compassionate private citizens trap and transport, every EOAA-funded spay/neuter averages $105 for a cat and $250 for a 50-lb dog - this does not include larger dogs or the additional vaccine cost that EOAA provides, as well.

If an unspayed female dog has two litters of puppies in her lifetime, and those puppies also have two litters each, this can generate more than 60,000 dogs over just six years (Source: SPCA). The numbers for cats are exponentially higher. "In just seven years, an unspayed cat and her offspring can produce over 450,000 cats (average litter of three, twice a year)." (Source: BCSPCA).

Spaying prevents this exponential growth, resulting in fewer strays. Help EOAA reach our fundraising goal of $2,500 towards spaying and neutering!
