Hello, my name is Monsurat Amoo, a sustainable fashion designer, student leader, and advocate for ethical fashion at Spelman College. My journey has always been about using creativity to promote conscious living while giving back to my community. As someone who hosts upcycling workshops and designs fashion that tells a story of hope, I believe that sustainability is about honoring both people and the planet. This spring break, I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Senegal, a place rich in culture, tradition, and innovative approaches to sustainability this trip will be a transformative experience that will deepen my work as a designer and educator. But this isn’t just about me, this trip is about taking the lessons I learn back to my community. I plan to incorporate these techniques into my upcycling workshops and continue empowering students and creatives to rethink fashion from a sustainable perspective.
