Finding Joy is a heartfelt short film written and directed by Emily Rimbey and produced by Paige Smith. It tells the story of Reggie, a young boy who gets separated from his parents at a carnival. Along the way, he meets Boomer a silent clown who guides him through the whimsical world of carnival games, sideshows, and quirky performers. Through their unexpected bond, Reggie learns that joy often shows up when and where, you least expect it.

This film explores themes of self-discovery, trust, and the power of connection, told through the eyes of a quiet, imaginative child. Inspired by Emily’s personal ties to the Great Allentown Fair in Pennsylvania, Finding Joy blends grounded emotion with visual wonder. The project brings together local creative support from Emily’s hometown and a dedicated team from SCAD, we both currently study.

Over the past three years, Emily and Paige have collaborated on four student films, building a creative partnership rooted in trust, shared vision, and mutual support.

We’re filming this summer at the Great Allentown Fair and I couldn’t be more excited to help bring this story to life alongside Emily. We have been working to ensure this film has everything it needs to succeed, and now we’re turning to you for support to help get us across the finish line.
