Bethel Colony Preservation: Bower Stores Brick Repair
The row of buildings on Main Street we call the "Bower Stores" were originally constructed by John Bower and his three sons for retail businesses. Today, they are still in use and house the Colony Museum, the former Legion Hall, Bethel Bakery and Bethel Candy Kitchen.
The Colony contracted to have brickwork repaired on the building, but before the work could be completed a heavy windstorm unexpectedly took down a section of bricks. We went ahead with the repairs, but really could use some help with the final payment.
If you have a connection to Bethel or just a love of history and are able to donate financially toward this project, would you consider helping with a financial donation?
The Historic Bethel German Colony is a nonprofit organization whose efforts are focused on the ongoing preservation and maintenance of Colony buildings, many on the National Register of Historic Places.
