The Irob are an ethnic minority indigenous to the historic Tigray region of Northern Ethiopia and from where my family hails. The past three years have been marked by a brutal siege, sexual violence, massacres and death from forced starvation by the Eritrean and Ethiopian governments on the Tigray region. The people of Irob need our help. Their location on the Northeastern border with a hostile dictatorship in Eritrea has made them an easy target. This money will go towards humanitarian aid and help the Irob survive a rough harvest season as crops and tools were intentionally destroyed by the aforementioned countries’ militaries. To give back is to never forget where I’ve come from. I want to dedicate the rest of my life to ensuring peace and security to my people living in Irob through the Irob Development Assocation, an organization that has lived for 20+ years.
