Welcome to Geauga Mama and Pups!

Have you ever adopted a dog or puppy? Have you ever wondered what their story was before you adopted them? Many of them are abandoned, abused or neglected. This is where the amazing volunteers at Geauga Mama and Pups jump into action. We are a care and rescue group of individuals who welcome these animals into our homes to help rehabilitate, provide medical care and nutrition and socialization. Our goal for each animal in our care is to allow them to gain the confidence to find their furever home through one of our adoption partners. We are fully funded by donations for medical care, medications, vaccinations, food, supplements, and supplies such as collars, leashes, bowls, cages, trash bags, cleaning supplies, puppy pads, etc. Without these donations, our fosters may need to supply some of the items needed at their own costs.

The need for our services is ongoing and continuing to grow each year with over 1000 rescues coming through Geauga Mama and Pups last year alone. While the focus for Geauga Mama and Pups have been on pregnant moms and puppies, we have also helped a variety of adult dogs (male and female), cats, kittens and other animals as our fosters are able to accommodate.

Below are some stories of animals we have helped throughout the years:

Coco was a pregnant mom who came into rescue but sadly lost her puppies and was very sad. Shortly thereafter, a orphaned littler of newborn puppies came into rescue. Coco not only stepped for this litter but a second orphaned litter that arrived later. Coco and all puppies have found their furever homes.

A mom and her puppies were living in a campground on their own. They were very afraid of people (semi-feral), skinny and very dirty. The only way to get them into foster was to trap them. Once in foster, they were provided correct nutrition, vaccinations, love, attention and training to become the loving dogs we knew they could be. All now have loving furever homes and are thriving.

A mom with 5 puppies came arrived in rescue with a severe skin condition with open sores and very underweight. They are currently receiving treatment for their skin condition such as medicated baths, supplements, topical and oral medication. They will remain in rescue for many weeks to recover before they are in a condition to find their furever homes.

There are hundreds of other success stories from puppies who required bottle feeding, to recovery from parvo, excessive worm loads, injuries and skin conditions and everything in between. While we always provide medication, hospitalization, medical care, blood transitions, vaccinations, nutrition, love and support, sadly not all of our fosters have survived to find a furever home. While this is a sad reality when working in rescue and very challenging for each and every foster, our dedicated fosters continue to step up to provide care and support for as many animals as possible.
