This past year, Essex Food Hub (EFH) secured more than $860,000 for renovations of our new home in Westport, ensuring our food hub can once again fill local food system gaps by providing full-service warehousing and a commercial kitchen for small farmers, caterers, and value-added producers.

At the same time, EFH launched new food access programming, made possible by our $731,000 NY Food for NY Families project. Through this, we built new partnerships and connected more members of our community with the fresh, delicious, and nourishing food our small farmers locally and regionally produce. We are working with more partners than ever, including WIC (Women, Infants, Children), Head Start, rural food pantries, mutual aid organizations, and a growing list of BIPOC+ producers.

Together, these two achievements represent major strides in expanding equitable food access in the North Country, laying the foundation in both infrastructure and programming for us to grow our work forging pathways toward a just and sovereign food system. Heading into 2025, we need support to maintain this momentum and ensure the capacity to take our food access initiatives to the next level!

With your support, EFH can secure:

A new refrigerated Sprinter van to continue trucking local food 1,200 miles weekly;
One year of free food distribution to ongoing Adirondack programs, including those with our emergency feeding partners;
A new fair pricing model & composting at our current retail location; and
The operating capacity and health benefits for the staff to do it all in 2025!

Thanks to incoming grants (soon to be announced!) and generous donors, we have nearly $215,000 in funds committed to help us expand food access programming in 2025, with $31,000 toward a new refrigerated van, $52,000 to our emerging Farm to Food Pantry and Farm to ECE initiatives, and $130,000 for the capacity to do it all.
