Dear FHWC member,

Friends of Harold Washington College (FHWC) is an organization of retired faculty, staff, and administrators established in the Fall of 2006. Our goal is to continue to support the College, its students, and our colleagues. All retirees of the college are members and welcome to participate in our activities.

In 2010 we established FHWC Graduation Awards of $1,000 each. These awards showcase the positive impact that the HWC experience has had in its graduating students’ lives. These awards both recognize and celebrate the students’ accomplishments. In 2024 we gave 6 awards. We solicited and processed donations, solicited applicants, evaluated applications and arranged for payment to the winners all virtually. We did not have an in-person Award Ceremony, but we did have a Zoom event with the awardees.

This year we would like to give five graduation awards. Recipients will be selected by the FHWC Graduation Award Committee and must be graduates receiving one of the following:

AA, AS, AES, AFA, AGS, AAS* degrees or Advanced Certificates.

FHWC reaches out annually to you, its members, to support the Graduation Awards Program. Please donate to this worthy endeavor. It will mean so much to the students. Your tax-deductible gift will benefit HWC graduates and assist in continuing these awards.

Please note the following procedures for your donations. We cannot access mail at the college, so you must send the donations directly to the City College of Chicago Foundation. This organization has been processing donations and arranging for payment to students since we established the awards.
