The Sierra Club Southeast Michigan Group’s Outings Program brings the outdoors to people across Metro Detroit — from easy local hikes and nature walks to backpacking, birding, camping, canoe trips and wilderness adventures. Our outings aren’t just fun — they’re about reconnecting with nature, fostering community, and deepening people’s appreciation for the environment.

Our outings go beyond recreation. They reconnect people to nature, strengthen community, and inspire lasting respect for the environment. We believe people protect what they experience firsthand — when they feel the wind, hear the water, breathe the forest air, and encounter wildlife, nature stops being abstract and becomes personal.

Is My Donation Tax-Deductible

As a C4 non-profit organization, our donations allow us to to lobby for environmental protections and to litigate against our biggest threats. However, this tax distinction — while giving us a broader range to enact change — also restricts your gifts to Sierra Club from being tax deductible.
