Brighter Ukraine joined a volunteer program in Ukraine called "To People from People," organized by Artem Pryhodko in the Kharkiv region.

This charitable organization has been helping residents of Kharkiv and surrounding areas to overcome humanitarian difficulties for more than a year. In most cases, the volunteers work with people with disabilities and provide humanitarian assistance right during shelling or buying food products during the outage. Daily you can see video reports of food baskets delivered to the seniors directly affected by the war.

Ukrainian Artists

Marina Malyarenko

Ukrainian Petrykivka artist in the USA
Marina was born in Halych, an ancient city in western Ukraine full of medieval ruins and prehistoric artifacts reclaimed by nature. Marina learned the craft of the traditional Ukrainian decoration technique Petrykivka early in her life.
In 2009 she worked as a jewelry artist in Ivano Frankivsk with Ukrainian designer Lubov Chernikova. After immigration to the US in 2012, she started working with bigger paintings on canvas and wood, experimenting with different painting techniques. In 2019 Marina Malyarenko was the lead artist for the Catharsis butterfly installation for Burning Man. The 8 feet tall butterfly made with metal and wood was hand-painted by Marina in Petrykivka style with fluorescent acrylic paint. After Burning Man, the installation was displayed in Seattle community center Dill and downtown Redmond, WA.

Petrykivka is a traditional Ukrainian folk art decorative technique that originated several hundred years ago. It involved painting flower designs on the walls of houses in central Ukraine using this distinctive technique.

- I use the same traditional technique and tools to paint my modern interpretation of this art form. For instance, I paint all berries and round elements using fingerprints, while all the intricate details are painted with handmade brushes from cat fur. Please note that these brushes are cruelty-free and made from hair sourced only from the cats' bellies and only if the cats are willing to have their fur trimmed. Ukrainians have long believed that painting helps and protects and that the person who paints puts a part of their soul and energy into the artwork. Therefore, painting Petrykivka is a way to spread love - love for nature, people, my culture, and the entire planet. My art is also an opportunity to showcase Ukraine and our culture to the world, introducing viewers to ancient traditions and modern images of Ukrainians. I put my heart and soul, symbols, and ideas into my drawings, believing that this energy will warm and protect those who have a piece of that love in their homes.

Anastasia Khomutova

Artist & Designer from Ukraine

Anastasia is a talented artist, digital illustrator, and teacher. She has gained significant recognition for her powerful illustrations of war and patriotism. Her paintings have been featured in popular Ukrainian media outlets, such as 1+1, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and the renowned YouTube blogger Ptushkin.

With a passion for creativity from a young age, Anastasia honed her skills at the Rivne Art School. She went on to earn a degree in Fine Arts from Rivne State Humanitarian University. She has since created a remarkable collection of approximately 1,000 custom-designed pieces, which have found homes across the globe, from the United Kingdom and Canada to Australia. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Anastasia has extensive experience as an art teacher. She has taught art history, drawing, and painting to both children and adults.

After her move to the United States, Anastasia expanded her artistic repertoire by delving into digital illustrations. She collaborates with famous Ukrainian companies and individuals on various projects to support Ukraine. Additionally, she actively participates in exhibitions and fairs, promoting Ukraine's rich cultural heritage to a global audience. Alongside her digital work, she continues to paint on custom clothes and create artwork on canvas, showcasing her versatility and creativity.

Anya Wild

Anya Dikareva uses printmaking, painting and textile traditions to evoke performative environments. She holds an MFA from the University of Oregon and a BFA from the University of Minnesota. The Fulbright Foundation has supported her work. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Carrizozo Artist Colony, New Mexico, Kala Art Institute, Berkeley, CA, among others. She exhibits her work nationally and internationally. She has collaborated with artists in Portland, OR, Los Angeles and San Francisco to create immersive events and performances. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

"An improvisational, immediate approach to material permeates my work. I strive to include a whimsical perspective, challenging the assumptions of civilized life and harnessing the potential of play for self-discovery. As a Ukrainian refugee, my childhood was charged with transience, communication conflicts, and cultural adaptation. My work now channels these experiences through wearable forms and performative actions. Props and wearable sculptures hybridize the human figure by emphasizing, restraining and directing body movements to exercise a nonverbal exchange level".

We provide humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and clothing to refugees directly affected by the war in Ukraine. Additionally, we supply the Ukrainian frontline defenders and supporters with necessary medical supplies and protective tactical equipment to save their lives while protecting their families and country. Creating cultural experiences within our monthly events is essential to keep Ukrainian culture alive among Ukrainians in the United States and enriching Americans' lives by connecting them with the Ukrainian community and sharing art, music, and tradition. We are looking toward the future of a Brighter Ukraine by physically rebuilding cities and communities while sharing the beautiful Ukrainian culture.
