Friends of Robin Roberts Stadium is a nonprofit foundation created by the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes to raise money for stadium improvements. The stadium is owned by the Springfield Parks District in Springfield, IL. The owners of the facility have communicated they do not have resources to maintain the facility at an appropriate level or invest in enhancements.
The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes want to take baseball and programming to a higher level at Robin Roberts Stadium. With field turf, Robin Roberts Stadium can host various events from soccer, softball, band competition, lacrosse, state tournaments, and so much more, bringing visitors from all over the country which is a win for the whole business community of Springfield, IL. The incandescent lights are a thing of the past and can no longer be purchased. Therefore, LED lighting is the next step. This will also improve utility costs.
Historic Robin Roberts Stadium will be 100 years old in 2025. It is a community institution and should be revered as one.
