Story
Founded in 2018, Volta Music Foundation Inc (Volta) has completed its 5th year. Volta eliminates systemic barriers in music education by providing accessible opportunities to cultivate students’ musical potential through its Supply Drive, Masterclass Series, Latin American Exchange, and After-School educational programs. At no cost to the students, Volta educates young students in underserved communities with out-of-school music education opportunities, including instrument-specific classes, music theory, history courses, masterclasses with professional artists, community-building sessions, creative performances, donations of instruments, and classroom materials.
Volta works on the principle of nurturing lives through music. We identify a strength or interest in a child, help build them with a music curriculum that allows the student to reach academic, social, and career success, and we look for a strength in each family in which to build confidence, family bonding, and achieve resiliency and self-sufficiency.
Join us in the belief that every child who desires to express themselves through music should have the opportunity to do so.
Through the Volta music Foundation, YOU can inspire and enrich the lives of underserved students through music education!
Since 2018 Volta Music Foundation has thrived in supporting students with fewer resources in the US and Latin America. Our vision is to create a community that supports students in need and gives them the opportunities to succeed through music learning. It is with help like yours that we can continue our mission.
Volta Music Foundation Afterschool Music Program grants access to additional music education and resources for students in South Florida schools, including Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach schools, under Title I administration. These students are from low-income populations, and a significant majority (90%) are people of color and members of minority groups that have been historically excluded from or not actively engaged by established arts programs available in the country or even the state.
Volta opens its doors to students of all abilities, backgrounds, and upbringings. Some of the students that join Volta’s After-School classes are youth at risk or living with disabilities (Hard of Hearing). Volta makes it possible for these students to connect and build community through music experiences that allow them to have an outlet for expression and creativity while simultaneously highlighting their artistic skills.
Students enrolled in the After-School program participate in group instrument lessons and learn music history and theory to support their instrument learning. Volta provides:
All Volta teachers receive training in social-emotional, creative youth development, and trauma-sensitive methods for classroom management and instructions to best serve our students.

How can I donate to Volta?
How can I support Volta Music Foundation regularly?
One of the best things you can do is become a monthly donor - it’s quick, and easy, and ensures that Volta can support students, mentors, and young musicians all year round. Use the donation form above and choose “monthly” for your donation frequency.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! Volta Music Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization, which means that donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. In 2020, new IRS regulations for charitable donations intended that you may be able to deduct up to $300 of gifts, even if you don’t itemize your taxes. Find more information about the new rules here, or talk to your tax advisor for more information.
Can I have my workplace match my donation to Volta?
Yes, absolutely! Often this is as simple as filling out a one-page form and submitting it to your HR department. If your workplace uses an online giving catalog, such as YourCause/NPOConnect or Fidelity Giving Marketplace, Volta may already be a registered charity in your catalog. If you have questions about whether your workplace offers donation matching or how to give to Volta, email [email protected] and we can help.
