Story
Lift your holiday spirits with the Philharmonic’s annual all-Baroque concert at the Pacific Christian Center on a Friday evening! This year’s program offers music by Handel, Bach, Purcell, Vivaldi, and Telemann.
Refresh your spirit with the courtly dances and compositional imagination of the Baroque period! From Telemann imitating the hee-haw of Sancho Panza’s donkey in his ‘Don Quichotte Suite’ to Bach’s Second Brandenburg Concerto with its high-flying piccolo trumpet solos this will be a concert that takes the listener on an aural flight of fancy. We are excited to welcome guest trumpeter and former principal trumpet of the San Francisco Symphony, Bill Williams, for this program - also featuring as soloists our own principal flute, oboe, and concertmaster.
Complete Program:
Handel: Concerto Grosso, Op. 6, No. 11
Telemann: Don Quichotte Suite
Vivaldi: Sinfonia in C Major, RV 112
Purcell: Chaconne from “King Arthur”
Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major
