For families living with celiac disease or other medical conditions that require a gluten-free diet, gluten-free food is not a preference. It is a necessity. Yet gluten-free products often cost significantly more than their conventional counterparts and are rarely available in food pantries.

As high school students and siblings, with one of us living with celiac disease, we saw this gap firsthand. We started The Celiac Shelf to help ensure that no family has to choose between food safety and food security.
