For the first time in it's history, the SPCA of Polk County have been beset with torrential rain and floodwaters, causing damage to structures and a sizable sink hole that has taken out the dog park access and fencing.

However, the priority is always the welfare of the team members, volunteers and animals. While preventative measure are taking place, immediate assessments of the property damage estimate over $20,000 for repairs.

The sink hole formed over the creek bed where it was discovered that it had no culvert in most of it and filled with debris (concrete, roof shingles etc.) and covers an area roughly 70' long by 20'+ wide by 15'+ deep, that will need to be dug out, landscaped, secured and new water/electric lines and new fencing.

The building so far damaged with flood water will need new insulation interior walls and potential flooring, following clearing out and drying.

The property is not insurued due to dropping the SPCA last year and moving out of the market, following dozens of requests for quotes with others, most declined coverage, whilst a small handful quoting over $20,000 for a year, a figure not possible for the organization to meet at this time.

Your help is desperatley needed to support the SPCA's mission and goals to support animals in need and in it's care. They need a dog park for exercise, fresh air and escapism from a kennel enviornment, it's an essential part of their mental health and allows the organization to perform adoptions in a suitable and positive environment.
