Goodwill's Power of Opportunity Capital Campaign

seeks to raise $30 million to empower individuals and create thriving communities through education, training, and job opportunities. With a rich history of over 128 years, Goodwill's mission is to empower people to discover their potential and adapt for the future through the power of work. Your essential support enhances people's quality of life by providing skills training and job placement services.

In 2022 alone, Goodwill assisted nearly 2,000 individuals with training and services, leading to 700 successful job placements.

Goodwill's vision revolves around breaking the cycle of poverty and constructing pathways to transform lives. Alarming statistics from the 2020 census reveal that there are over 1.2 million adults in Kansas and Missouri without a high school diploma, contributing to a high-poverty rate, particularly among women and people of color.

To address these pressing challenges head-on, Goodwill intends to establish a state-of-the-art campus known as the Goodwill Opportunity Campus in Kansas City. This campus will serve as a central hub for cost-free career education, training, and job placement. It will offer comprehensive resources like career coaching, financial literacy training, and job placement services. Located in the heart of the Crossroads with accessible transportation options, the campus will be a beacon of hope for underserved individuals and families.

In the first five years, the Opportunity Campus is expected to serve more than 15,000 people and help place more than 6,500 job seekers into full-time employment with businesses throughout the region that pay a minimum of $19 per hour – creating a cumulative impact of $270 million.

This will contribute to economic growth, higher wages, secure employment, educational achievements, and reduced poverty rates in our community.
