Here’s how the competition worked:

March 20-26, 2025 –
Buy-In Round. Enter your favorite schools and alma maters into the competition through a $20 minimum contribution to ASAS Foundation’s “Student and Young Animal Scientists Opportunities Fund.”

1. A school may enter itself or be entered by a faculty, student, alumnus, friend or corporate partner.
2. Once a school is entered into the Foundation Folly, contributions* of any amount may be credited to a school’s total.
3. Each contribution to the same school builds that school’s amount and helps with the initial seed placement for Round One.
4. Following the Buy-In Round, there are three competitive fundraising rounds.
5. Just like in that well-known basketball competition, each college and university begins each round with a $0 score and must rise to the challenge again to raise the most funds, over their opponent, while supporting a great cause, ASAS Foundation’s “Students and Young Animal Scientists Opportunities Fund.”

March 27-31, 2025-
Round One begins! Brackets and Seed Placements are announced and bracket competition begins.

1. In this round, every entered school is eligible to advance to Round Two.
2. Round One ends at 11:59 p.m. Central Time on March 31, 2025.
3. Each school starts at a $0 score for this round and competes against the other schools in their bracket.
4. The two schools from each of the four brackets with the most money contributed will advance to Round Two; having 8 schools compete in Round Two**.
  1. **The ASAS Foundation reserves the right to adjust/reduce the number of schools that advance to Round Two depending on the number of schools and/or brackets that start in Round One.

April 1- April 4, 2025-
Round Two! The top 8 schools compete**.

1. As a reminder, with each new round, each college and university begins with a $0 score and must rise to the challenge to raise the most funds over the opposing teams, supporting ASAS Foundation’s “Student and Young Animal Scientists Opportunities Fund.”
2. Each school starts at $0. Round Two has four brackets, with two schools in each bracket. The school with the highest contribution within their respective bracket advances to the Championship Round and continues competing for the Amazing Prize!
3. Round Two ends at 11:59 p.m. Central Time on April 4, 2025.

April 5-8, 2025-
Championship Round!

1. This is it! The final stretch to win the Amazing Prize for your favorite school and/or alma mater.
2. Every contribution makes a difference!

April 9, 2025 -
Champion announced via social media and on the ASAS Foundation website

In addition to bragging rights as the BEST SCHOOL for animal science students, the college or university that wins the Championship Round will receive ASAS-logoed polos for each of their animal science faculty and graduate students in their school color (up to 100 polos). The winning college or university will have a designated University/College Take Over Day at the 2025 Annual Meeting! The winning school’s color will be the official meeting color of the Annual Meeting.
