ABYSA/HFC Giving in Memory of Fred Meadows

HFC and soccer in the Asheville area are synonymous with Fred Meadows and his family. Each of his boys - Logan (HFC '82), Tyler (HFC '85), and Drew (HFC '88) - played their developmental years in HFC programming. His nephews, Jonny & Brandon, have coached in HFC programming for years as adults. Fred even coached several teams throughout his boys' soccer careers. Sheila and Fred spent most of their boys' formative years on the sidelines supporting their HFC teams as involved and caring "soccer parents" for their boys and countless others on their teams.

At his heart, Fred was a fierce competitor who loved team sports and what they stood for more than almost anything in the world. Team sports helped form his ideals, values, and lifelong friendships. They opened doors for his opportunities and pathways throughout life. He instilled those values in his boys and his family and supported not only their growth through those experiences but also their teammates, friends, and "soccer families" as well.

It is only appropriate that in his memory, and in lieu of flowers, any Gifts will go to support the Club and the soccer community that has had such a lasting impact on his family. The Meadows family is proud and grateful to work with HFC/ABYSA to accept donations in the memory of Fred Meadows to help bring impact, joy, and community connection to other families in the greater Asheville community - through his love of team sport, competition, connection, and the ideals they bring to young people... as it did for his boys and his family.

In addition to these donations in his memory, the family will also be working directly with the Club to bring a meaningful, impactful, and fun memorial event to the greater community in his name. More will follow.
