Hello! Many of you know that I am a student at JMU in their Physician Assistant program. I am coming up on completing my first year in the program which is wild because it feels like I just started yesterday. My PA class is raising money for the Blue Ridge Free Clinic here in Harrisonburg by sponsoring a 5K in October. This clinic is incredibly important as it provides healthcare to fill in the gaps for those who make too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford insurance. This is particularly poignant for me since I was in this exact situation four years ago when I worked for a nonprofit and made $20,000 a year and was essentially living paycheck to paycheck. In addition, it also provides an incredibly unique opportunity for current PA students to gain clinical experience in patient care during their didactic year. ALL proceeds will go to the Blue Ridge Free Clinic so they may continue to provide free care for those in need. If you are willing and able to donate to this cause, I would greatly appreciate it!
