📣 Freedom Run Farm Sanctuary is Moving!

Moving is never easy...and moving an entire sanctuary along with our personal lives is an enormous challenge! We’re thrilled for what’s ahead, but right now we’re also a little overwhelmed. We need your help, and fast!

We’re purchasing the house I (Ren) grew up in as a teenager, just outside of Newark, IL. It’s a beautiful 5-acre property full of memories, potential, and room for new beginnings. There’s a wooded area the pigs will absolutely love, and a big open pasture perfect for the sheep. The property already has a large chicken coop, and we’ll be bringing the one we built last year so our feathered friends have plenty of cozy options.

But the clock is ticking. We need to be completely moved in by early December, before the harsh Illinois winter sets in. While the new property is a dream come true, it’s currently a blank slate. Which means we have a lot to build before our residents can safely move in!!

Our Most Urgent Needs

Our biggest priority is getting the barn and fencing purchased and built as soon as possible. We’ll be building the fencing ourselves and hiring help for the barn, but first, we need to raise the funds to buy materials.

After weeks of research and quotes, we’ve built a cost-effective plan that’s realistic for our small sanctuary:

🏠 Barn materials (to meet all resident needs): $22,000

🐖 No-climb perimeter fencing & T-posts: $4,300

These are conservative estimates, and we’ll keep everyone updated as we progress and adapt to new challenges, as sanctuaries always do!

We’re bringing everything we possibly can with us to save costs, but we’ll never cut corners when it comes to the safety and comfort of our residents. Every structure will be built with care and love, to the highest standards, for every heartbeat that calls Freedom Run home.

A Brighter Future

This move brings more than space, it brings connection. We’ll be closer to many of our amazing supporters in the city suburbs, which means more opportunities for visits, volunteering, and community events! One of our biggest dreams is to create a space where people can connect deeply with our residents and the peace of nature around them. And we are excited to fulfill that dream in this new space!
