After I spoke to the faculty about some of our struggles, instead of backing away, our Afro-Pop teacher Sylvestre came forward. He said “you have an amazing thing here, and I want to be a bigger part of it. I want to help make sure it survives.”

He has been volunteering hundreds of hours to make our studio better in myriad ways. If you've been spending time in the studio, you will have noticed the peeling and marked up paint, the poor lighting, the repairs that weren't getting done all over the space. Sylvestre is donating his many skills, his time and most importantly his positive energy toward making our space fresh and new for 2025.

We need your help with the supplies! We've bought gallons of paint, patching materials, bins for organizing, and all the painting supplies needed.

The cost of the basic repairs and painting has been about $2000. You can help contribute to this massive project by donating, and if you're free on January 2nd or 3rd between 10-6, you can stop by and help with your hands!

If we're able to raise more than the $2000 we will be able to start replacing our badly damaged mirrors - a crucial tool for dance education.
