But many families do not have that support system.

Research from the Urban Institute found that nearly half of adults surveyed reported they would have no one to rely on for temporary housing if they lost their home. For many families facing crisis, there is no spare bedroom, no safety net, and nowhere to turn.

That is where Family Promise of Las Vegas steps in. When a family experiences housing instability, job loss, unexpected expenses, or a crisis they cannot overcome alone, Family Promise becomes part of their support system—providing emergency shelter, housing stabilization, employment services, transportation support, and individualized guidance that helps families move toward long-term independence.

Family Promise of Las Vegas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk families with children achieve secure housing, financial stability, and long-term independence. Through a compassionate, community-driven response, Family Promise works to break the cycle of homelessness by providing both temporary and long-term housing solutions in partnership with apartment complexes, landlords, motels, and hundreds of service providers and stakeholders across Southern Nevada.

Over the past 29 years, we have promised to love, care for, and serve thousands of families with minor children who are on the verge of homelessness or experiencing homelessness. We have kept that promise by becoming more than just a place to find shelter and safety. From January 1st, 2025, to December 31, 2025, FPLV served 206 families (643 individuals) through 13,657 total services and well over 17,000 nights of shelter for families going through an emergency. Additionally, we served 105 families (323 individuals) with Prevention and Stabilization Services for those who were about to be evicted. Our employment services team helped 94 individuals find jobs. As a result of comprehensive case management, resource navigation, and family-centered support, 89% of families transitioned into stable, independent housing.

Some of the key programs that help achieve the high success rate include:

Motel Shelter: Keeping unhoused families together during crisis
Transitional Housing: Bridge apartments with wraparound services at the Navigation Center
Employment Services: Coaching, job fairs, resume building and training
Family Stabilization: Short-term assistance for housing, utilities and childcare to prevent homelessness
Supportive Services: Including IDs, fingerprinting, work cards, move-in kits and food handler certifications
Just Neighbors: A volunteer-powered program connecting families with local groups to meet essential needs

Each family (67% of the people we serve are children) receives a personalized plan with goals tailored to their specific needs. This individualized, trauma-informed approach allows us to help families break the cycle of homelessness and rebuild their futures with dignity.
