Our Journey to Midwifery and Getting Battle Creek's First Birth Center: 

As it stands, Calhoun County currently has zero midwives of color, and no FREE STANDING Birth Centers, but three women from Milk Like Mine aim to change that! We are still focusing on disparities in maternal and infant survival rates, hoping to improve the way they experience birth  so that they learn to do more than survive, we want to help them thrive! We already offer free lactation and doula services and seek to become Certified Professional Midwives, providing affordable care and representation for black and brown families and others that seek care with us at our own Birth Center. We need support for supplies, schooling, practice materials, and other expenses to help us along on our journey to midwifery and funds for construction and renovations for our Birth Center.
