Today, we stand on the threshold of change with a groundbreaking initiative, FUTURES FIRST:HOUSING, aimed at eradicating this crisis through an audacious, yet deeply human, approach. Our goal is clear: to end youth homelessness—one city at a time, one individual at a time.
It takes $90 per day to House and Support a Youth.
Our strategy is not just about offering shelter; it’s about creating a foundation for lasting change. We believe that the journey to a healthier, more resilient community begins with empowering its most vulnerable members. Our comprehensive plan focuses on three pivotal areas:
1. Community-Based Housing: We offer more than just a roof. Our housing solutions are embedded within the community, fostering a sense of belonging and connection. This integration is vital, bridging the gap between temporary shelter and a permanent home.
2. Life Skills Training: Empowerment comes with knowledge and skills. We equip young adults with the tools they need for independence—financial literacy, job readiness, health and wellness, and more. Our goal is to prepare them not just to survive on their own, but to thrive.
3. Personalized Case Management: Every journey is unique. Our case managers work one-on-one with youth, crafting tailored plans that chart a course from vulnerability to self-sufficiency. This personalized approach ensures that support evolves with their needs.
Beyond these core components, our initiative is built on collaboration, evaluation, and community engagement. We join forces with local agencies, nonprofits, educators, and businesses, creating a network of support. Through continuous monitoring, we adapt and improve our strategies, ensuring that our impact grows. And by raising awareness, we aim to dispel the stigma of homelessness, fostering a community that supports its young members in need.
