Mary Lee Campers

We need help sending three more campers!!

This summer, the Mary Lee Foundation is sending some of our residents to Down Home Ranch Camp, a week-long overnight camp held on a beautiful 410-acre working ranch in Elgin, Texas. Nestled among greenhouses, trails, and farm animals, this inclusive camp offers a transformative experience where our residents can thrive in a safe, supportive, and adventure-filled environment.

Campers stay in air-conditioned cabins alongside peers and highly trained counselors, many of whom have backgrounds in special education, occupational therapy, or recreational programming. Each day is structured with engaging activities like swimming, archery, theater arts, canoeing, arts and crafts, nature hikes, and barnyard visits. Campers are grouped into small teams that encourage bonding, cooperation, and friendship.

Adding to the excitement are themed dress-up days such as Marvel Monday, Western Wednesday, and Throwback Thursday, culminating in a festive Night of Celebration with skits, awards, and a camp-wide dance. Each evening, the ranch comes alive with talent shows, karaoke, pool parties, and campfire cookouts, creating memories that last long after the week is over.

More than just a getaway, this camp empowers our residents to grow in independence, build social connections, and explore the world beyond their daily routines. It is a joyful and inclusive opportunity where they can celebrate their strengths, experience new adventures, and return with a renewed sense of confidence and community
