Hi, my name is Ruth, and I’m sharing something deeply personal because I believe in the power of faith, community, and perseverance.

For years, I have battled with daily, unrelenting pain that has impacted my ability to move, sit for long periods, and live life without constant discomfort. What began as typical back pain has now been diagnosed as much more—an umbilical hernia, diastasis recti (a separation of my abdominal muscles), and bone deterioration in my spine. These conditions not only cause intense pain but have also made everyday activities incredibly challenging.

Understanding My Condition:

An umbilical hernia occurs when part of the intestine pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall. My doctors have explained that if it becomes trapped or strangulated, it could cut off blood flow and become life-threatening. Living with this risk, alongside the constant pain, is something I carry with me every day.

I also have diastasis recti—a separation of my abdominal muscles that happened after carrying my children back-to-back. This condition not only affects my core strength but also contributes to severe back pain and limited mobility. Sitting for long periods becomes unbearable. Simple activities, like sharing a meal with my family, can leave me in intense discomfort. These aren’t just inconveniences; they are daily battles that I endure silently.

To make things more challenging, I’m also experiencing bone deterioration in my spine, which further complicates movement and daily life.

The Path Forward:

I have found an expert surgeon who specializes in repairing these conditions. This surgeon has the experience and skill to restore my abdominal wall, repair the hernia, and help me regain my quality of life. His expertise offers me hope for a permanent solution—but insurance doesn’t cover this surgery due to outdated policies that classify it as cosmetic, even though it causes real suffering.

Cost Breakdown:

I want to be completely transparent about where the funds will go:

 • Surgical Procedure + Medical Fees:  $54,000 Total

Already paid: $10,800 non-refundable deposit

Remaining balance due:  $43,200

• Travel: $1,500 (Round Trip for 2)

• Lodging: $5,000 (Required to stay for 2 weeks post surgery) Necessary accommodations during surgery and recovery

• Post-Surgical Recovery Therapy: $1,500 (Manual lymphatic drainage, medication, medical garments,  and necessary follow-up care

• Medical Supplies & Equipment: $800 (scar therapy, wound care, recovery supplies)

• Transportation: $800 (gas, rental car, Uber/Lyft)

• Meals & Groceries during recovery: $500

Total Goal: $50,000
