The Garden Bridge Initiative is a new project that connects ecological sustainability with redistributive justice. Rooted in community healing and environmental resilience, this initiative aims to inspire residents to create and engage with biodiverse urban landscapes, using gardens to bridge historically divided parts of St. Louis.

In response to the recent tornado that devastated large portions of North St. Louis, the Garden Bridge Initiative seeks to mobilize support from less-impacted areas to raise funds and provide aid, not only for disaster relief but to address the deeper, long-standing disinvestment in the North Side.

This is a collaborative effort between VAL Garden in South St. Louis, local farmers/growers, Coahoma Orchards, and Ujima in North St. Louis. Together, we are transforming garden spaces into platforms for mutual aid, beauty, and collective growth.

We invite you to participate by joining us at our kickoff event on July 20th and/or during our weekly Wednesday showcases running through August 14th.

Participants are encouraged to provide drinks and hors d'oeuvres as a gesture of hospitality and solidarity— helping redistribute resources and nourish connections across communities.
