The Global Deaf Research Institute is a pioneering, deaf-lead research collaborative striving to improve the lives of deaf people around the world with the power of data.

Worldwide, deaf people are underrepresented in published research, in large part due to language barriers with the rest of society. They are being left behind by their governments, their healthcare systems, and their communities.

Our team of deaf scientists is capable of communicating with the people we study in a way few other researchers are. We are committed to connecting with these people, to document their stories and lived experiences in ways that can be used to affect policy, drive advocacy, and change deaf quality of life for the better. We are the only deaf-lead research team performing needs assessment work at a global scale.
