Story
This program will help students learn the fundamentals of marching so that they are more prepared for marching band in high school. Our instructors include high school marching band coaches, upperclassmen high school students, and even several judges from the Northern California Band Association (NCBA), California Color Guard Circuit (CCGC), and Drum Major International (DMI). We hope that this program will help introduce marching band to students and help them realize how fun it can be. The highest performing marching bands, throughout the state, typically start marching competitions in Jr. High. By offering this program to Jr. High students, we are preparing them as individuals and helping the whole high school program succeed in band reviews.
Band Students: Our Cadet Regiment is open to all rising (2023-2024 school year) 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IN THE SCHOOL BAND TO JOIN. EXPERIENCE IS NOT NECESSARY FOR COLOR GUARD STUDENTS.
Dance, Choir, Orchestra, & Others: Nearly all of our Color Guard members are from Dance, Choir, Orchestra, and other non-band students because marching band can help fulfill their PE credits, allowing them more time in their class schedule and take 4 years of performing arts and foreign languages. Students with martial arts and dance backgrounds are highly recommended to join, although this background is not necessary. If you participated in our Immortalis or Imperialis Regiment programs, this would also be the next step for you.
• Make new friends from other schools
• Have fun performing in front of thousands of audience members, which is more than any concert program.
• Learn how to march, so you’re more prepared for high school. This will, in turn, help make our high school programs stronger, leading to more awards throughout the school year.
• Students who do high school marching band can earn a PE waiver which frees up their schedule for other classes.
• Gain leadership opportunities! Students run just about everything in TBC.
