Update as of 6/18/25

You’re Helping Make This Possible 💗

We’re excited to share an incredible update that is coming together, and it’s all thanks to your support.

After seeing CRITI’s story on Channel 3, Brandon Newman with Daikin reached out with an amazing offer. He is working with his company to donate brand-new HVAC equipment for our facility and has also connected us with Action Air, who may be able to provide the installation labor at no cost.

This would be a tremendous blessing for our organization. The units will need to be installed in our attic, which could involve cutting through ceilings and making structural changes. Your donation will help us cover those construction needs, handle any challenges that come up during installation, and keep the system maintained long term.

Because of you, we are one step closer to creating a safer, healthier space for the women and children we serve. Thank you for believing in this work and helping to make progress like this possible.

With deep gratitude,
The CRITI Team

Help Us Keep CRITI Cool and Comfortable for Families in Need

At Chattanooga Room in the Inn (CRITI), we are committed to providing a safe, stable, and welcoming environment for women and children experiencing homelessness. Our shelter is more than just a roof, it's a place where families begin to heal, grow, and rebuild their lives.

Right now, we’re facing an urgent and unexpected challenge. Two of our four HVAC units responsible for keeping our facility cool and comfortable are on the verge of complete failure. We've made repeated repairs, but multiple HVAC professionals have told us these units likely won't survive into the fall. With summer heat already setting in, we cannot afford to lose air conditioning while housing up to 35 residents at a time.

We’ve received four competitive quotes and selected the most cost-effective and reliable option. The total cost for replacing both units is $22,177* an expense that was not budgeted for this year.

We are asking for your help to raise the funds needed to keep CRITI livable and safe during the hottest months of the year. With your help, we can keep our shelter cool and comfortable for women and children who are working hard to rebuild their lives.

Please consider making a donation today to support this urgent need. Every contribution brings us closer to ensuring comfort and dignity for the families we serve.

Together, we can keep CRITI safe and cool and continue to be a place of hope.

With gratitude,

Taylor Hixson
Executive Director
