Women and children make up over half of the more than 100 million people who have been displaced worldwide.

What does it mean to be displaced? In a global context, displacement refers to individuals or groups forced to flee or leave their homes, either across international borders or within their own countries. This often occurs to escape conflict, abuse, or other crises.

Displacement has devastating impacts, particularly on women, affecting their physical and mental health. In 2021, the number of forcibly displaced people surpassed 84 million, and that number continues to grow.

Hi, my name is Tuere, and I am the Executive Director of Hajar’s House. Our mission is to empower women to walk out of displacement, equipping them with tools for self-sufficiency and independence. Our vision is to help vulnerable women and families take bold steps toward building a positive new life.

Hajar’s House was inspired by the story of Hajar, the wife of Prophet Ibrahim, who faced displacement and immense sacrifice. Left alone in the desert with her son, she demonstrated remarkable strength, transforming her challenges into a new beginning.
