Help Bring the Banked Track Back to Florida

Roller derby on a banked track once thrived in St. Petersburg, bringing fast-paced action and inclusive community to the Tampa Bay area. But COVID-19 forced its disappearance—and the track was lost.

The dream didn’t die.

Four years ago, a small group of dedicated skaters came together to preserve the spirit of banked track derby. They formed Sunshine City Roller Derby, a volunteer-led league built from scratch—starting with just a handful of skaters and a vision for the future. The league has grown from a handful of skaters to over 50 members. From outdoor practices to hosting full bouts indoors—something is still missing.

Flat track isn’t the same. The movement, the speed, the magic - it lives on a banked track.

The Roller Derby Coalition of Tampa Bay is working to bring it back. This campaign will fund the return of a full banked track to Florida and secure a permanent home for roller derby in the region.
