The Legacy Fund

More and more frequently Fleet of Angels is contacted by elderly people who are ill or disabled, and are in great distress as they struggle to provide for the equine/s they love dearly and have provided for, for many years. It is almost impossible to find new homes for these horses that are almost always also elderly and/or disabled. And, in many cases these horses are what gives their humans a reason to live, essentially serving as equine therapy horses for their own owners. These are caring people who have responsibly provided good care for their horses for years and years - but now urgently need our help to get through difficult times. With your donations to The Legacy Fund, we can help these very devoted elderly people care for the horses that count on them by providing emergency hay or vet care assistance during a crisis, other critical supplies, or  euthanasia for a peaceful escape when an infirm old horse has no quality of life remaining. As a part of our assistance, FOA works with these elderly persons to develop a plan to secure a safe haven for their horse/s 'when the time comes'.
