A small monthly donation can create a lasting impact, funding vital programs that support and uplift our LGBTQ+ community throughout the year.
Thanks to the generous support of our incredible local business sponsors, Pocatello’s Pride Festival is fully funded. This means your monthly contribution goes directly toward expanding essential community programs beyond Pride Month because our community’s needs don’t begin and end in June.
Gate City Pride was founded on meaningful conversations, and within just three months of our inception, we launched our first Pride festival in Pocatello. Even as we focused on this milestone event, we recognized the need for year-round engagement and support.
At the same time, The Closet, a vital local resource, struggled to meet increasing demand. We heard from community members who said, “It would be a huge loss for Pocatello if The Closet disappeared.” We wholeheartedly agreed.
Gate City Pride has merged with The Closet to ensure its continued impact. Rather than reinventing the wheel, we are joining forces to strengthen and expand this well-established resource—one that aligns perfectly with our mission of supporting the LGBTQ+ community every day, not just during Pride.
Young LGBTQIA+ individuals were a top priority at last year’s Pride festival, and we are committed to maintaining that focus by introducing new programs designed specifically for queer kids and teens.
Teen Book Club: The Closet had already been collaborating on Reading Time with the Teens, a book club for LGBTQIA+ youth and allies. We are excited to increase our support and involvement in this initiative.
Queer Roleplaying Games (QRPG): There is a long history of individuals who feel “othered” finding friendship and belonging through tabletop roleplaying games. Imagine an RPG group designed specifically with LGBTQ+ youth and allies in mind, providing a safe, welcoming space for self-expression, storytelling, and connection. We are thrilled to introduce:
These are just the beginnings of the programs we envision. As funding allows, we will continue expanding initiatives that create affirming, inclusive spaces for Pocatello’s LGBTQ+ youth.
Will you join us in building a stronger, more supportive community?
Your monthly donation helps us sustain and grow these critical programs, ensuring that LGBTQ+ individuals in Pocatello have the resources, connection, and affirmation they deserve, not just during Pride, but all year.
