Growing up, I participated in a variety of sports, including soccer and track, during my years at grammar school. These activities kept me active, but it wasn't until my brothers started playing little league that I truly discovered my love for football. Watching them play ignited a spark within me, one that grew stronger as I began to watch the NFL. The intensity, strategy, and excitement of the game captivated me. Over time, I became deeply attached to my home team, and football quickly became more than just a sport to me—it became a passion.
As the world evolved and conversations around women in sports began to shift, I always hoped that one day, women would have the chance to play football professionally. That hope became a reality, and when the opportunity for women to play football emerged, I seized it. Joining the women's football league has been an incredible opportunity for me to stay active as an adult while also being part of a growing movement to provide visibility and recognition to women's sports, which are often overlooked.
Football has given me a platform to prove that women are just as capable, strong, and skilled as males to play this sport. It's not just about playing the game; it's about breaking down barriers and paving the way for more opportunities in the future. This experience has been an empowering one, and it's exciting to see the change happening in the world of sports.
However, there are challenges that come with pursuing this passion. With the season just around the corner and a change in ownership, our team is working hard to secure funding for travel expenses, field fees, and other essential costs. So far, I have personally invested over $300 in equipment for my football career, but there are still additional expenses we need to cover. Any support is greatly appreciated as we continue to build a stronger future for women's football and show the world that women's sports deserve the same recognition and respect as any other.
My passion for football has only grown over the years, and being part of this movement is more than just a chance to play; it's an opportunity to contribute to something bigger, something that will inspire future generations of women to chase their dreams in the world of sports.
