Why Give to The Exchange Club Family Center?

When you contribute any amount this Giving Tuesday, every dollar goes to directly benefit The Exchange Club Family Center and the families we serve in the local community.
The annual cost of the Parent Aide program is $1,800 per family.
Your donation of $100 funds an hour of education for families in need.
That hour of education includes a specified parenting curriculum including these valuable lessons: nutrition/meal planning, proper discipline, budgeting, fighting truancy, setting schedules, activities to do as a family, and so much more!
In addition to proven education, our Parent Aides connect families with outside resources for healthcare, mental health, education, job placement, childcare, and community connections.
Our families also receive the benefits of community involvement through generous donations for school supplies and Christmas gifts for the children. These are tangible items the children might not otherwise receive if the families are not enrolled in our Parent Aide Education program.
The outcomes are quantifiable and monumental. Just ask the 341 children we were able to serve this past year if they see a difference in life before and life after. The answer is a resounding YES!

Our Exchange Parent Aide Model

Parent Aides are trained, professionally supervised individuals who provide supportive and educational, in-home services to families at-risk of child abuse and neglect. Exchange Parent Aides act as mentors and provide intensive support, information, and modeling of effective parenting — all in the home of the family. Services are family centered and focus on:

Parental resilience is developed through teaching problem solving skills, modeling effective parenting, providing support and referrals to services.
Knowledge of parenting and child development is encouraged and developed through sharing skills and modeling strategies. Individualized help is provided in the home eliminating the need for costly transportation and childcare for the family.
Social connections are developed and fostered through social support, building the individual relationship and connecting the parents to referrals within the community.
Social-emotional competence of children is developed through strengthening of the nurturing capabilities of the family; interaction of parents with the children is observed and modeling is provided for support of the family as a unit.
Ensuring safety of the children, including attention to medical, dental, and mental health care needs, as well as safe housing and freedom from child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.
