This Giving Tuesday, we’re reflecting with deep gratitude on the incredible support of our community. As an independent, nonprofit organization, the Humane Society of Chittenden County (HSCC) receives no state or federal funding. We rely entirely on the generosity of people like you—our neighbors, adopters, and animal lovers—along with the limited revenue from adoption and program fees. In fact, over 70% of our funding comes directly from donors like you.
As HSCC approaches our 125th anniversary, we’re inspired to look ahead to the next 125 years. While animal sheltering will continue to evolve, one thing will never change: our unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of animals and the people who love them.
Click here to learn more about our history—from our humble beginnings as a small, volunteer-run group operating out of a Burlington garage in 1901, to the vibrant 12,000-square-foot facility where we now care for thousands of animals each year.
Every day at HSCC brings both joy and challenge—the joy of seeing pets find loving homes, and the challenge of meeting the complex needs of animals and families in crisis. Thanks to your support, we are able to respond with compassion and creativity through programs like:
Your generosity fuels every one of these efforts.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help create a brighter future for animals by becoming a monthly donor with a sustaining gift of just $10 a month. Already a sustaining donor? Thank you! If you’re able, please consider increasing your monthly support — every dollar helps provide food, shelter, and medical care for the thousands of animals who depend on us all year long.
Thank you—for helping animals today, and for ensuring we’ll be here to help them tomorrow, next year, and for generations to come.
