Why Your Support Matters

Our work is deeply personal. Sammantha Megaw, the founder of SocialWorx, started this journey with a passion born from her own battles with mental health. Raised in a household where mental health wasn’t discussed, Sammantha grew up believing that seeking help was a weakness. Her life took a turn when she was faced with grief, family challenges, and her own mental health crisis that brought her to a behavioral health center.

Through proper diagnosis, medication, and therapy, Sammantha learned that recovery is possible.

Five years later, she turned her pain into purpose by founding SocialWorx Advocacy Group, a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health—especially in communities of color.

Her story isn’t unique; it’s a story that so many in our community are living.

Real Stories, Real Impact: Meet Kay

Kay was standing on the edge—lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to begin. They had tried to manage these feelings and tasks alone but knew they couldn’t keep going this way. We met Kay at a community event, where they bravely shared their struggle.

Thanks to SocialWorx, Kay connected with a therapist who was the right fit, someone they could trust and bond with. Today, Kay says they’ve never felt further from the edge.
