The First Dollar Project started because I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed by money and have no idea where to begin. I’ve had times in my life where everything felt harder than it should be — budgeting, debt, and planning ahead. And I know I’m not the only one who’s ever carried that weight.

Over time, I learned tools and systems that helped me feel more steady and in control. And the more I talked with people in my life — friends, other parents, coworkers, community members — the more I realized how many of us were quietly carrying the same stress.

That’s why I created TFDP: a place where people can talk about money without shame, learn without judgment, and walk away with something practical they can actually use.

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about taking one step forward and having someone walk with you while you figure it out.

If you’d like to support this work, your donation will help fund one-on-one coaching sessions and volunteer training so we can reach more families.
Every dollar truly helps.

The First Dollar Project has applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the IRS. As long as that is approved all donations will be retroactively tax deductible.
