Beth Bloom's Story
Dear Friends: The Covid-19 pandemic has made life harder for all of us. But for those living in poverty or with limited means, the past two years have been devastating. Civil legal aid is the social safety net we desperately need. Even one unresolved legal problem can escalate into a series of complex and interconnected challenges that quickly endanger people’s health, housing or financial security.
That is why I serve on the Board of the Endowment for Equal Justice and why I am pledging $1000 for this year's Goldmark Luncheon. I hope you will join me in donating $250, $500, $750, or matching my $1000 pledge.

P.S. Check out this great video for more information about the need for civil legal aid.

Story
The Legal Foundation of Washington envisions a society where civil legal aid is a basic human right, and poverty and race are not impediments to justice. LFW invests in civil legal aid organizations, impact litigation, policy reform, and systemic advocacy across Washington state -- distributing over $200 million since 1984.
Poverty, discrimination, and racism prevent many Washington residents from obtaining equal justice under the law. During the pandemic, millions of additional people have fallen into poverty, and requests for legal aid, particularly on housing and unemployment issues, have skyrocketed.
LFW funds 40 legal aid programs to advance justice for communities of color, immigrants, and all who suffer the injustices of poverty and racism. We help families resolve life-changing issues to stay safe, healthy, and housed.
