April Petersen YMCA Naming Opportunity Fund
A life filled with generosity deserves a legacy that welcomes generations.
April Petersen was the kind of person who left a lasting mark on everyone she met. She cared deeply about the Greenville community and never met a challenge she didn’t embrace with creativity, determination, and her unmistakable “special sparkle.” If someone told April a goal couldn’t be achieved, it only inspired her to prove that it could.
That same spirit defined how she loved her family. April poured her heart into the people closest to her, encouraging them, supporting them, and celebrating life’s moments together. Her warmth, optimism, and unwavering belief in others are what so many remember most.
To honor her legacy, April’s family and friends have established the April Petersen YMCA Naming Opportunity Fund for the proposed YMCA in Greenville. Our goal is to raise $1 million to place her name on the front entrance of the building—ensuring that her spirit of determination, generosity, and community leadership continues to inspire everyone who walks through its doors.
April believed in building stronger families and healthier communities. The YMCA reflects those same values by creating a place where people of all ages can pursue health, connection, and well-being together. It is our hope that the families who gather here to grow stronger will build lifelong memories—and that those who come seeking health and vitality will never have to experience the early loss of a loved one.
Although April is no longer with us, her spirit continues to live on through the lives she touched and the community she loved.
Those who help make this vision possible will be recognized on a permanent plaque at the Greenville Regional YMCA, honoring the individuals who helped ensure that April’s legacy continues to welcome and inspire Greenville for generations to come.
