Story
We are honored to announce that we are launching The Debra Griggs VFHS Emergency Rescue Fund with initial seed funding of $10,000 and a goal of raising $15,000 for this effort by March 2024.
This fund memorializes former VFHS Board President Debra Griggs who passed away in November 2023. Created on her birthday, November 11th, this fund will provide financial and/or in-kind support to VFHS members tackling an urgent large-scale animal need in their community.
Debra was a tenacious, fierce and effective advocate for all animals. Whether walking the halls of the Virginia General Assembly to climbing a fence to save a dog in need, Debra's dedication was infectious and her effectiveness unmatched. Debra worked tirelessly with individuals and organizations across the Commonwealth to provide thoughtful guidance and support to a variety of issues, big or small.
This fund will provide support for VFHS members for urgent large-scale animal issues for which such support can increase the opportunity for lifesaving. Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis and applicants must complete the Are You Prepared VFHS training to be eligible to receive funds.
